The Life and Legacy of Bishop Richard V. Allmon, Sr.

Bishop Allmon’s early life was spent in Little Rock where he attended Pfeifer and Carver Elementary Schools, then West Side Junior High. He graduated from Central High School, where he ranked in the top ten of his class and was the recipient of many honors. Among his many scholastic awards was a full scholarship from Senator Wilbur D. Mills to attend The United States Air Force Academy.

He was a proud member of the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Sergeant and a certified electrician (earning Outstanding Electrician of the South East Region) working with IBEW 130 in New Orleans, Louisiana; a vocation he really took pride in and maintained his license and certification throughout his life.

Richard married his childhood sweetheart, Lois, and to this union were born twelve children, Richard Jr., Renarda, Raymond, Ravonne, Reginald, Rachel, Robert, Reuben, Rebecca, Ryan Sr., Lois, and Ramahd. He and his beautiful bride received the Holy Ghost and were baptized in Jesus Name on August 18, 1974 and served faithfully under the leadership of Elder G. A. Coleman at New Testament United Pentecostal Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Bishop Allmon was a born leader, responsible for planting many churches. He started by accepting the call of God to pastor in 1977, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. In 1982, he saw another opportunity to reach lost souls and pioneered and built Tabernacle of Truth United Pentecostal Church in Gray, Louisiana. Bishop Allmon was elected Pastor of Full Gospel United Pentecostal Church in 1983, where he served until his death. After Elder Coleman’s death in 1993, Bishop Allmon also served as Senior Pastor of New Testament United Pentecostal Church for three years. His life of service became a staple within the local community of Baton Rouge, where he and his family dedicated their lives to community service, economic development, and wellness through initiatives such as the 2006 establishment of The S.E. Mackey Center (A full service family life, fitness, and recreation center and bowling alley in North Baton Rouge).

Bishop Allmon loved and enjoyed educating himself. In 1979, he received a Certificate of Ordination from the United Pentecostal Church International and served as Presbyter-At-Large on the Louisiana District Board until his death. In June of 1990, he earned an Associate of Theology Degree from Christian Life College, continuing his studies to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies. He culminated his education by earning a Master of Divinity with a specialization in Biblical Languages from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Bishop Allmon's Passion included Passing the Baton to the next generation of believers, life-changers, and those chosen to follow the path of Apostolic Legacy and leading a Life of Love through stewardship, discipleship, scholarship, and fellowship.

Evangelism and Succession Planning

Bishop Allmon was passionate about establishing legacy in his personal life as well as in the life of those God blessed him to impact. In his final year of life, he began working with his daughter Rachel on a curriculum and cohort arrangement purposed to create a repertoire of ethically and doctrinally sound (young) ministers who are capable of effectively transitioning into leadership roles while maintaining organizational and theoretical integrity.

In 2024, God began moving upon the heart of his daughter Ravonne to moving along with the mandate giving to father without her having any knowledge of it. It was truly inspired by God’s leading and testament that the prayers and works of those gone before us, never die, but will accomplish what the Lord has purposed.
